Winter is a beautiful time to visit Three Rivers.
We have had more than 18 inches of rain so far this winter in Three Rivers and a total of 134 inches of snow in Sequoia National Park. We are rejoicing at our bounty.
The rivers are running strong, green grasses blanket the hills, chartreuse moss covers the rocks and the High Sierra towers a pristine white above Three Rivers. My husband and I hike local mountain trails every morning and we are just now beginning to see a few wild flowers. We have seen Lupine, Fiddleneck and a couple of California Poppies. With the good rainfall we are experiencing, we should have an abundance of wildflowers blanketing the hills once we get a bit of sunshine and warm weather. I will be posting pictures as they become available.
This is a great time to play in the snow and experience our winter wonderland.
You can rent snowshoes or cross country skies in the Park, or enjoy a delicious dinner at the Wuksachi Lodge.
